Maya Sugawara chosen as the O.C.S.D. visual!!
A special interview with Maya Sugawara, who belongs to SKE48 which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, and who was chosen as a senbatsu member for her first time in AKB48 54th single「NO WAY MAN」on sale November 28 (Wed)!!
「I feel like I just got promised 3 years of cuteness (haha)」
-What are your thoughts on the new O.C.S.D. uniforms?
Maya Sugawara（referred to below as “Ms. Sugawara”）「Firstly, the color is not fair (haha). This color is just too cute!! Also, this is the same color as the costume for「Kataomoi Finally」which is popular among the members, so I really love it.」
-Do you have any memories about school uniforms？
Ms. Sugawara「High school is when most girls get really into fashion. We want to be fashionable even in our uniforms so I remember how I spent my days trying to find the cutest way to wear my uniform without breaking school regulations (haha). O.C.S.D. uniforms are cute without doing anything to it, and it’s very rare for school uniforms to take in trends such as the mermaid skirt so that part excites me!! I liked to make my skirt a bit short, but this design makes long skirts very stylish!!」
-Do you check uniforms when choosing which school to go to?
Ms. Sugawara「That is a very important point!! When I hear designer uniforms, I get intrigued so I look up who makes those uniforms. I think it’s very appealing that a company that designs idol costumes designed these uniforms and I feel like I just got promised 3 years of cuteness with OSARECOMPANY’s uniform (haha).」
-How about this uniform with a mannish look?
Ms. Sugawara「The long jacket is very cool. With the tie and all, it made me feel like the class president (haha). I feel like I got to show a side of me that is different from my usual self.」
–This is extremely different from the 1st one you tried on.
Ms. Sugawara「It is rare for girls’ blazers to come in black. It feels very western and I like the feel of it being like a school overseas.」
-Your facial expressions also changed and it looked great on you.
Ms. Sugawara「I’m so happy to hear that!! I was thinking that I may like this one better…(haha). It’s stylish without the jacket and I like the shirt so much that I want to wear it outside of school as well!!」
-Lastly, through these 2 uniforms, what impression do you have of O.C.S.D.?
Ms. Sugawara「There are both cute and cool uniforms so it’s possible to find a uniform that matches you. The designs were nothing like I’ve ever seen before. I’m sure there are some students who choose schools without uniforms because they do not like the uniforms, but I wish for students to spend fun school days by finding new charms in themselves through O.C.S.D. If I could go back in time, I want to go to a school that implements O.C.S.D. uniforms (haha).」
In Spring 2019, new students from 15 schools will be celebrating their school entrance with O.C.S.D. uniforms.
There may be many who feel hopes and fears, but we hope to create fun and bright schooldays through uniforms that bring confidence or strength to move forward. Although this may only be one small trigger, we hope that as Ms. Sugawara mentioned, when you look back on yourself, O.C.S.D. becomes a ray of hope for someone.
