Works January 21 (Sun) Produced Costume of Next Generation Gospel Singer, John Lucas
We have handled the design and production of the live costume of Jamaican gospel singer, John Lucas, who wooed the crowd in「Nodo Jiman THE World 2017 Spring」aired on Nippon Television which then trended on Twitter, etc.
This concert was held as John Lucas’s Solo Live at his home of Sendai, Miyagi on January 21 (Sun) at the Miyagi prefecture Kakuda City Hall.

This costume, designed with both Jamaican and Japanese essences, turned out to be an original and unconventional design. The green costume which represented the Jamaican flag created a flashy concert opening. I truly appreciate all that the staff has done in such a short production period.

The beauty of the silhouette was one of the most important thing I kept in mind when making the elegant long jacket, which effectively uses the BLACK/GREEN/GOLD of the Jamaican flag. From the motif of the color to other small details, the production process included working with John Lucas himself until the very end.
The red and white costume based on the image of Japan, we incorporated the inspiration we got from the Japanese-like panel on stage to create black and white patterns in the sleeves and tags. This piece shows John Lucas’s love for Japan.

John Lucas
Born in Jamaica on August 10, 1979.
First came to Japan as an ALT through the JET program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2000.
Graduated with a Master’s degree at the Tohoku University Graduate School of International Cultural Studies
Held a charity concert after experiencing The Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11. A portion of the proceeds were donated to Ishinomaki city. Disaster recovery support activities still continue.
Works to deepen relationships between Japan and Jamaica as the Jamaica Tourism Ambassador, as well as being active as a singer, gospel director, model, TV and radio personality.
